Let's take a perfectly good, classic sports car like a 1987 Lotus Excel SE.

A jigsaw was used to cut a U-shape along the existing grooves in the bonnet.
By lifting the resulting flap, a plywood spacer was then resined into place along the front.
The residual tension of the flap, trying to close down, ensured a strong bond.

Bog was then packed into the V-shaped holes along each side of the new raised section,
and the whole was then cleaned, and bogged and sanded and bogged and sanded.

The inside of the bonnet needs some resin cloth.

Ready to repaint the bonnet:

The view from the driver's seat is now quite interesting
with a subtle new shape on the bonnet :
